As life's turned wild, we tend to go wild as well. Life is getting more and more uneasy. It's worsened as people turn ignorant and selfish. We do need others to lighten our burdens.
We might know not that helping others to make life bearable isn't always a matter of giving your hands and head,or even money.
It is very often one needs listeners instead of a helping hand or brilliant solution. People are running after the time and don't have a quiet and relaxed time just to sit back and share life with others.
In this restless time may we still have time for others simply to listen to them.
Here are some tips to help us to be good listeners.
1. Put your mobile away, so nothing will disturb your togetherness with your friend.
There is a saying "mendekatkan yang jauh, menjauhkan yang dekat" that's what a mobile do.
2. Listen with your heart, not only with your ears.
For this you need your eyes look deeply into his/her heart. You will feel what they feel,and have an empathy toward them. So, keep eye contact.
3. Sometimes, it is necessary to ask some questions toward what your partner's said. Those questions trigger him to take their burdens out of his mind.It is very often someone keeps their real problem on their mind and let it depress them.
4. Don't let your mind make pre-assumption that leads you to having your own point of view and trying to influence people with it.
5. Some people might only need a listener, not a problem solver. Therefore, keep yourself from giving to much suggestion
6. This is important. Be a good secret keeper. One's trust on someone else comes just once.
But above all, if none in this world can be your good listener best friend, we still have one great best friend, Jesus.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.
